Have you ever stopped to wonder about a blade of grass, a buzzing bee, or the way the wind rustles through the trees? Did You Ever? was born from those quiet moments — a book inspired by my own lifelong love of nature and the simple, powerful wish to help children fall in love with the world around them.
Why Nature Matters — Especially for Kids
Today’s kids grow up in a world that moves fast. Screens are everywhere, and schedules are often packed. It’s easy to miss the magic outside — a cloud shaped like a bunny, a butterfly landing quietly nearby, or the cool squish of mud between your toes.
That’s why I wrote Did You Ever? — as a gentle invitation for children to slow down, look closer, and begin to ask their own “Did you ever?” questions. Because once we start noticing nature, the wonder never ends.
A Book Made of Moments
Did You Ever? doesn’t tell a big, loud story. It asks soft, curious questions.
Did you ever chase a leaf in the wind?
Did you ever listen to the trees whisper?
Did you ever lie in the grass and watch the clouds?
These questions invite reflection, imagination, and connection — to the earth, to each other, and to ourselves. They’re moments that remind children (and grown-ups) that we belong to this beautiful, breathing world.
A Personal Journey Shared
When I was a child, I found peace and joy in nature. Whether it was walking through tall grass or sitting quietly by a stream, I felt most myself surrounded by green things and sky. That love has stayed with me, and now, it is my wish to pass it on.
Did You Ever? is my way of sharing that love with children today. Not through facts or lessons, but through wonder. Through questions that open the heart instead of giving answers.
How Families Can Use the Book
Read it outside. Bring the book to the park or your backyard and pause between pages to explore.
Ask your own questions. After reading, come up with your own “Did you ever?” moments together.
Use it as a bedtime wind-down. The gentle rhythm and soft curiosity make it perfect for calming evening routines.
Start a nature journal. Encourage kids to draw or write about the wonders they see each day.
Planting Seeds of Wonder
Nature teaches us patience, connection, and beauty. If Did You Ever? helps even one child fall in love with the world around them — with bugs and birds and breezes — then I’ve done what I set out to do. I’ve planted a seed. And with care, that seed will grow into a deep-rooted appreciation that lasts a lifetime.
