Hold on a minute. Wait a minute. Give me a minute . . . In a minute . . . Not right now.
We've all heard it. Been there. We know how it feels . . . We're put on hold. We wait in line. Caught in traffic. And we don't have a minute to spare.
We know time flies. There isn't enough hours in the day. There's so much to do and so little time. We're busy. We have things to do. Places to go. People to see. Yet we're told it's not the right time.
And we spend a minute . . . waiting. Impatiently. Caught. We get frustrated. Restless. We don't have time to wait.
We look at that one valuable minute as wasted. A minute when so much more could have happened, been done, been taken care of. Our time is precious. Every minute we have counts for so much.
But does that mean we have to be busy, doing, accomplishing or just plain fighting to get through every minute of every day? What constitutes a wasted minute? Maybe we need a minute every once in a while. A minute to take a deep breath. Relax. Just a minute, without worrying and rushing right on in to the next one.
Some of the most cherished moments are the times when there is nothing to do. The ones that really count . . . with nothing pressing hanging over our heads . . . no worries . . . no rushing. A minute of quiet. Peaceful moments, as few and far between as they may be.
Meaningful minutes spent with friends over coffee. A distraction from the regular demands and events of the day. Time spent with our children or our families. Listening, learning, loving, appreciating. Time when we're relaxing and enjoying.
Isn't that why we're here?
Just take a minute and think about how you spend the precious moments of your day. Use your time wisely and enjoy each and every minute you have.
